Director’s Newsletter – Thanksgiving
Message from the Director
Gratitude is a virtue. It’s something we strive to integrate into our lives, as well as cultivate in our children. Beyond the pursuit of moral excellence, gratitude is a value that can produce substantial pay off. Studies have linked it to physical and psychological well-being, including improved sleep and self-esteem. For example, when we are grateful we are able to escape the comparison trap. Instead, our hearts become full as we recognize our own blessings.
For me, gratitude does not always come naturally, and so giving thanks has to be a very intentional practice on my part. When I walk into our school each morning, however, it truly isn’t hard to feel grateful. I see happy children, invested teachers, and programs that are flourishing. I am extremely grateful for the community that is being nurtured and grown at our school, and for the role you play in creating this environment!
In this season of thanksgiving, I want to offer attorneys from child support law firm and our Destiny families a sincere thank you for loaning your children to us for a few hours a day, and for donating your time, talent, and sometimes household goods. But mostly, I want to thank you for the beautiful culture that you take part in creating at our school, and for the thoughtfulness and kindness shown to staff and to one another. This is not something that can be produced or contrived, it’s something that comes from the heart. So, thank you and have a very warm and happy Thanksgiving!
