Director’s Newsletter – Back to School
Message from the Director
With our first month of school almost over, I can say we are off to a wonderful start to the new school year! We love having our students and teachers back as they explore, learn, and make new friends. We have some very exciting “new things” on the horizon that I was able to share at Back to School Night. For those who may have missed it, here’s a quick recap. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or would like further information.
School Growth
Our school has seen substantial growth in nearly every Destiny program this year! We experienced an 18% increase in enrollment from Fall 2016 to Fall 2017 and a 32% increase from the time we opened our new building in 2014. This year, we opened an additional 2’s class which only has a few spaces left. In fact, we only have a few spots remaining in the entire preschool, and continue to give tours to new families interested in our school.
Additionally, the kindergarten program has doubled in size this year, despite the fact that full day kindergarten is now available in Loudoun County. I believe that says a lot about our program, school community, and teachers!
Our Future
To accommodate future growth, we will be expanding into the yellow building extension and the gray/blue carriage house (elementary). In the next few years, we have a plan for expansion construction to further meet our needs on this property.
Volunteer Opportunities
Destiny School of the Arts is launching its very first Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Please email jodi@destinyschoolofthearts.
Facebook
Please like us on Facebook and ask to join our parent/teacher closed group as well!
Car Line Reminders
Car line is running very smoothly now. Please read these important reminders from our guidelines so that we can continue in that direction! Also, please make sure all of those picking up/dropping off on your behalf are following these guidelines as well:
-Drive all the way up to the appropriate cones for pick up/drop off and buckle up. Also, pull all the way up to the car in front of you. Large gaps mean we cannot attend to as many vehicles in the line, which ultimately slows down the car line.
-The buckle up area is the ONLY time parents are allowed to exit their cars during car line.
-Do not send children unattended to the front door
-Always use your car tag and keep it visible until the very end of car line (even if you already have your child)
-For safety reasons, please stay alert and never pass other cars in car line.
Thank you for your continued help to make car line quick, safe, and efficient!
